Henney Oh, CEO and Co-Founder, Ph.D.
Dr. Henney Oh, co-founder and chief executive officer of Gaudio Lab, has more than 15 years’ experience working with advanced audio technologies. He holds more than 1,000 worldwide patents, most of which are essential to internationally recognized audio standards. In 2014, Oh started Project Gaudi in Seoul, Korea, where his team developed the binaural rendering technology adopted into the MPEG-H 3D Audio International Standard. He went on to found Gaudio Lab. Oh also serves as chairman of the audio sub-group for UHDTV broadcasting standards in Korea, and over the past decade, Oh has been actively involved in many high-profile international standards organizations, including the Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG), ITU Telecommunication Standardized Sector (ITU-T) and Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC).
Before Gaudio Lab, Oh was a research professor at Yonsei University and went on to hold executive positions at several companies, including LG Electronics, where he served as chief research engineer, leading projects to develop and commercialize audio technologies, including Clear Voice and Infinite Sound. Oh holds a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and doctorate in electrical and electronic engineering from Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea.
Ben Chon, CSO, Ph.D.
Ben Chon, Chief Science Officer of Gaudio Lab, has 15 years’ experience working with advanced audio technologies. He holds more than 20 international patents and has authored more than 30 academic papers. Chon has developed audio signal processing algorithms customized for several types of digital devices such as smartphones, televisions and home theaters, many of which were exhibited at international conferences, including Consumer Electronic Show (CES), National Association of Broadcast (NAB) and International Broadcasting Convention (IBC). He is currently leading Gaudio’s R&D team in developing algorithms that effectively deliver spatial audio and strives to continuously improve upon the company’s binaural rendering technology. As COO, Chon helps operate the accounting, HR and general affairs of Gaudio.
Prior to joining Gaudio Lab, Chon was a senior engineer at Samsung Electronics, where he was actively involved in many high-profile international standards organizations, including the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) and the Moving Pictures Expert Group (MPEG). Chon earned a master’s degree and doctorate in electrical engineering from Seoul National University in Seoul, Korea.
Ted Lee, CTO, Ph.D
Ted Lee, Chief Technology Officer of Gaudio Lab, has nearly 10 years’ experience working in the advanced audio field as a researcher and engineer. He has contributed over 40 technical presentations to the MPEG Audio Subgroup and has published numerous academic journal papers. His areas of concentration include binaural technology, 3D audio, multichannel audio systems, and human-computer interaction. Lee is one of the co-inventors and main developers of the MPEG-H 3D Audio Binaural Renderer that is an ISO/IEC international standard. As one of the original members of Project Gaudio, Lee developed the reference software and documented the MPEG-H 3D standard in its entirety. As CTO of Gaudio, Lee oversees various technological matters and specifically leads the Sol project. Additionally, he oversees Gaudio’s quality assurance, development and design teams to ensure all technology aspects of the company run smoothly.
Lee holds a bachelor’s and Ph.D. in electrical and electronic engineering from Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea.
Adam Levenson, V.P. of Business Development, JD
Adam Levenson has 25 years of experience encompassing the creative, technical, legal, and business aspects of audio production and technology. During his tenure as Senior Director at Activision, Adam established and managed both the Central Audio and Central Talent teams supporting work on major franchises such as Call of Duty, Skylanders, James Bond, Spider-Man, and Transformers. After serving as COO of Somatone Interactive, a global leader in audio production for mobile games, Adam joined CRI Middleware as General Manager to lead the introduction of CRI’s audio and video technologies into North America and Europe. In 2017, Adam was VP of Business Development at Krotos, developers of innovative sound design technologies including the renowned Dehumaniser plugin. Currently, Adam leads business development and strategic partnerships for Gaudio Lab, the award-winning audio technology company specializing in spatial audio solutions for AR/VR.
Adam has a JD from Loyola Law School, a Masters of Fine Arts in Music from the California Institute of the Arts, and a Bachelors of Music from Boston University.
